When we talk about strap on play, the conversation often centers on the person receiving stimulation. We discuss dildo shapes, sizes, textures, and which harness offers the best fit. All of these things matter. But there is another part of the experience I think deserves just as much attention: the pleasure of the person wearing the strap on.
For many of us, pleasuring a partner is already deeply satisfying. There is something special about discovering what makes someone feel good, finding a rhythm together, and sharing an experience that belongs to both of you. But what if the person wearing the strap on could also enjoy more direct physical stimulation while their partner is being pleasured?
That question helped inspire MeltHer, our strap on dildo with a grinding base. Its reception within the queer community encouraged us to keep exploring the idea. We listened to feedback from people who wanted the grinding base concept combined with more targeted texture, and that led us to develop BurnHer.
At CRASSIE, I see BurnHer as another step in our ongoing exploration of lesbian sex toys designed with the wearer in mind. With its softer outer layer and a firmer inner core, built in textured groove, and triple density construction, BurnHer brings together two important parts of strap on play: the stimulation we share with a partner and the sensations we can experience ourselves.
From MeltHer to BurnHer
We do not want to create another version of something simply because it already exists. We want to understand what people enjoy, what they wish were different, and where a design could make a meaningful difference.
The idea behind MeltHer
When we developed MeltHer, we wanted to explore a different approach to the traditional strap on dildo. Instead of focusing exclusively on the partner receiving stimulation, we incorporated a grinding base intended to create additional contact for the wearer.
MeltHer became a favorite among people in the queer community who were interested in this kind of design. At the same time, feedback gave us another direction to explore. Some customers wanted a grinding base with more pronounced, built-in texture and a design better suited to vertical stroking.
Why we created BurnHer
BurnHer grew from that next question: how could we refine the contact between the base of a strap on dildo and the giver's clitoris?
We developed a softer outer layer and a firmer inner core, and added a specially designed groove with soft, textured ridges along its interior. Instead of treating the grinding base as a smooth surface that simply presses against the body, we wanted to create a more intentional contact area that moves with the wearer.
The result is BurnHer, a textured strap on dildo designed to support vertical friction and clitoral stimulation during partnered play.
MeltHer introduced the idea. BurnHer takes it in a more targeted direction.
For me, that evolution reflects something important about designing lesbian sex toys: innovation does not always mean adding more features. Sometimes it means paying closer attention to a sensation, a movement, or a need that has not received enough consideration.
Meet BurnHer: A Strap On Dildo Designed for Shared Pleasure
BurnHer brings several design elements together in one integrated product:
-
A softer outer layer and a firmer inner core designed to support a more natural feeling position during strap on play.
-
A textured grinding base featuring a grooved channel and soft internal ridges designed for up-and-down movement.
-
A flexible contact area intended to adapt to changes in pressure and accommodate different clitoral sizes and shapes.
-
Multi-density construction combining a soft outer layer, a firmer internal core, and an ultra-soft base.
-
Fyn harness compatibility for a coordinated setup designed to support a secure, comfortable fit.
Each feature has a particular purpose. The shaft angle, textured base, and different firmness levels are intended to work together rather than function as unrelated additions.
The central idea remains the same throughout the design: the wearer should not have to choose between being involved in their partner's pleasure and paying attention to their own.
The Textured Grinding Base: Designed for Vertical Friction
The most distinctive part of BurnHer is its textured grinding base. This is where we focused much of our attention during the design process.
A groove designed around the clitoris
The underside of BurnHer features a recessed channel lined with soft ridges. The channel is designed to accommodate the clitoris, allowing the wearer to position the contact area comfortably and explore an up-and-down stroking motion.
Why a groove rather than a flat surface?
We wanted to create a more defined contact area. Instead of relying only on the base pressing against the body, the channel is designed to bring its textured interior into contact with the clitoris and surrounding vulva as the toy moves.
The opening is flexible, so the amount of pressure applied can influence how it sits against the body. This offers some adaptability rather than requiring every wearer to fit a fixed, rigid shape.
That does not mean one design will fit every anatomy perfectly. The position of the clitoris, the surrounding tissue, and the way a harness sits against the body all affect contact. What matters is finding a comfortable position without forcing the toy against sensitive tissue.
Why we added internal ridges
Texture changes the way a surface makes contact with the body. With BurnHer, the internal ridges are designed to provide more detailed friction than a smooth grinding base.
As the toy moves vertically, the ridges can create a massaging sensation across the clitoris and surrounding vulva. The intended experience is dynamic rather than limited to a single point of contact.
Some people prefer smooth, gentle pressure. Others enjoy more noticeable texture. BurnHer was developed for people who want to explore the latter while maintaining a flexible, soft contact surface.
The important distinction is that the texture is integrated into the groove itself. It is not simply decorative detailing on the outside of the toy; it is part of the area designed to interact with the wearer's body.
Made with movement in mind
A grinding base is only useful if its shape and positioning work with the movements a person wants to make.
BurnHer's shaft angle and textured base were designed with that relationship in mind. The goal is to support vertical movement while the dildo is being used with a partner, allowing the wearer to explore clitoral contact as part of the same experience.
There is no single correct rhythm or amount of pressure. Some people prefer lighter contact, while others may enjoy firmer pressure. The right approach is whatever feels comfortable for the wearer and works for both partners.
If the groove does not align comfortably with your anatomy, adjusting the harness or body position may help. You should never have to force the toy into place or continue a movement that causes pain or irritation.
Multi-Density Construction: Three Firmness Levels in One Design
The texture is one part of BurnHer's design. The way the toy balances softness and structure is another.
BurnHer combines three different firmness levels: a soft outer layer, a firmer internal core, and an ultra-soft base. Each serves a different purpose, helping the design balance support with a softer feel where the toy contacts the wearer.
A soft outer layer
The outer layer provides the softer feel of the toy's surface. For a product designed around close body contact, touch matters. We wanted the exterior to feel yielding rather than uniformly rigid.
This softer exterior also complements the textured base, allowing the design to combine defined ridges with a more flexible feel.
A firmer internal core
A strap-on dildo needs enough structure to support its intended use. BurnHer's firmer internal core provides that structural element, helping the shaft maintain its form during movement.
This creates a contrast with the softer exterior. Rather than making the entire toy equally firm, the construction is designed to balance external softness with internal support.
An ultra-soft base
The base deserves particular attention because it is the part designed to contact the wearer's clitoral area.
BurnHer's ultra-soft base complements the grooved channel and internal ridges. The aim is to create a softer contact surface while preserving the shape and texture that make the grinding base design distinctive.
Why combine different firmness levels?
Because different parts of a toy have different jobs.
The shaft needs structure. The outer surface should feel soft to the touch. The base needs to provide comfortable contact while supporting the intended stroking motion.
Bringing these elements together allows BurnHer to approach the design as a whole, rather than making every part of the toy behave in exactly the same way.
This is the thinking behind its multi-density construction: using different firmness levels to support different functions within one strap on dildo.
Designed to Work with the Fyn Strap On Harness
A thoughtfully designed dildo still needs a suitable harness. Fit and positioning can make a significant difference to how comfortably a grinding base contacts the body.
BurnHer is designed to be compatible with our Fyn Strap On Harness. Fyn uses a lightweight fabric blend of 85% polyamide and 15% spandex, with a stretchy, underwear-like feel.
The goal of pairing the two is to create a setup that feels comfortable to wear while supporting the positioning needed for BurnHer's textured base.
Here are a few things worth checking when putting your kit together:
-
Harness fit: The harness should sit comfortably against your body without pinching or restricting movement.
-
Toy positioning: Check where the grinding base rests in relation to your clitoris. A small adjustment may change how the texture makes contact.
-
Attachment security: Make sure the dildo is attached according to the harness and toy instructions.
-
Movement: Try a few gentle movements before partnered play to see whether the harness stays comfortably positioned.
Compatibility does not guarantee the same fit for every body. Anatomy, harness size, and personal preferences all influence positioning, so take the time to find a setup that works for you.

What Shared Pleasure Means in Lesbian and Queer Intimacy
The phrase shared pleasure is central to BurnHer, but I want to be clear about what I mean by it.
It does not mean both partners must feel exactly the same thing. It does not mean both people need to reach orgasm, enjoy the same activities, or have matching preferences. And it certainly does not mean that one particular kind of sex toy belongs in every lesbian relationship.
To me, shared pleasure means leaving room for everyone involved to enjoy the experience in their own way.
For some people, wearing a strap-on is satisfying primarily because they love giving their partner pleasure. For others, the physical sensations they experience while wearing one are an important part of the appeal. Many enjoy both, while some prefer a setup that focuses on their partner's sensations.
All of these preferences are valid.
I also do not believe that wearing a strap-on says anything definitive about someone's gender expression or relationship role. A person does not have to be masculine, dominant, or interested in taking the lead to enjoy one. A toy is not a label, and it should not dictate how anyone understands themselves.
That is part of why we care about designing lesbian sex toys with different experiences in mind. We want to create more options for people who have felt that conventional designs do not fully reflect what they want from intimacy.
BurnHer is one such option. Its textured base is intended to make wearer-facing stimulation a more considered part of the design, without prescribing how anyone should use it or what their experience should mean.
Getting Comfortable with BurnHer
Trying a new strap on dildo can involve a little experimentation. Even when a design is made for a particular kind of stimulation, the way it feels depends on the person using it.
If you are exploring BurnHer, I would start with comfort rather than intensity.
Find a comfortable position
Before partnered play, check how the harness and toy sit against your body. Position the groove where it feels comfortable, and make sure the attachment is secure.
You may need to adjust the harness or your position to find the contact that works for your anatomy. The goal is not to force the clitoris into the channel, but to see whether the design naturally aligns with your body.
Experiment with pressure and movement
The textured base is designed for vertical stroking, but there is no single movement that everyone will prefer.
Start with gentle movement and adjust the pressure according to what feels comfortable. If the texture feels too intense, change the angle or reduce the pressure. If the toy shifts out of position, pause and adjust your setup.
More pressure does not automatically mean more pleasure. Sometimes a lighter touch or a small change in positioning makes a bigger difference.
Keep communication part of the experience
While you are paying attention to your own sensations, stay connected with your partner, too. Talk about pace, angle, and comfort, and give each other room to ask for changes.
You might find that a particular movement feels good for both of you, or you may need to make adjustments to accommodate different preferences. Neither outcome is a problem.
And remember, either partner can pause or stop at any time. If you experience pain or irritation, stop and reassess rather than pushing through it.
The aim of a shared-pleasure design is to give you more possibilities to explore, not another standard you have to meet.
Material and Care: Platinum Silicone
BurnHer is crafted from platinum silicone, selected as the material for its body-contact design. As with any intimate product, proper care helps maintain its condition and supports good hygiene.
For cleaning, silicone toys can often be washed with warm water and mild, fragrance-free soap, but any specific construction or components may affect the recommended method. Allow the toy to dry completely before storing it.
Water-based lubricant is generally a practical starting point for silicone toys. Some silicone-based lubricants may affect silicone products, so check the guidance before combining them.
If you share a toy with a partner or move between body sites, clean it as directed and use a new suitable barrier when appropriate. These habits help reduce the transfer of bodily fluids and microorganisms.
A little attention to cleaning, storage, and compatibility goes a long way toward keeping your toy in good condition.
A Strap On That Makes More Room for the giver
When we began exploring the grinding base concept, the question was not whether the person wearing a strap on should care about their partner's pleasure. Of course they should, if that is part of the experience they want to share.
The question was whether we could also give more consideration to the wearer's own physical sensations.
MeltHer was one step in that exploration. BurnHer is the next: a strap on dildo with a textured groove, an adjusted shaft angle, and different firmness levels designed to bring wearer-facing stimulation into the experience of partnered play.
I know that no product will be right for everyone. Some people will prefer a smooth grinding base, some will want a different kind of stimulation, and others will be perfectly happy with a conventional strap-on setup. We are not here to tell anyone what their pleasure should look like.
What matters to me is that lesbian and queer people have choices that reflect the diversity of how we experience intimacy.
At CRASSIE, we want to keep listening, keep learning, and keep creating products with those experiences in mind. BurnHer grew from that commitment: the belief that the person wearing the strap-on deserves consideration in the design, too.
